Mateen Express Iraq has increased the salaries of its entire staff by average of 5.8% this year, despite what it calls a challenging market outlook.

“While the overall business mood in the logistics, air transport and shipping industry is generally negative, we at MATEEN Express Iraq decided take a different approach,” explains Majid Barzanji, co-founder and chairman of the company.

“We raised salaries of the entire team by an average of 5.80% to reward our loyal, dedicated and faithful people and on the other hand to change the atmosphere to a more upbeat and positive outlook,” he added.

Barzanji said that the Iraq-based express logistics company wasn’t ignoring the challenges in the market. “On the contrary, we have lots of challenges and difficulties, but the decision is to handle them with a positive attitude,” he said.

“We hope this will inspire other entities in our industry and other industries to follow a similar path,” he told LogisticsMiddleEast.com.

“Moreover, we are confident our people will put more focused effort into their work, and together we will get through to a better market condition,” he added.
