UAE-based Trychem and global chemical distributor Brenntag are showcasing their combined strength at the Middle East Coatings Show (MECS) 2016 which opened yesterday (March 14) at the Zabeel Hall of the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The partnership which was established in the last quarter of 2015 combines Trychem’s local expertise and Brenntag’s international distribution knowledge, management know-how and sourcing strength.

With over 10,000 products and a world-class supplier base, Brenntag offers one-stop-shop solutions to around 170,000 customers.

Martin Rimmer, European marketing manager, coatings & construction, has presented yesterday and today before industry leaders, exhibitors and visitors about ‘Connecting Chemistry in the Coatings Industry.’

In his presentation Rimmer focused on the connection between customers in the coatings industry and the service and expertise a substantial distributor provides, which complement the products and developments that key producers offer in the market.

According to Rimmer, modern chemical distribution offers not just simply storage and transportation but also formulation expertise and technical services for a wide range of materials that enable coatings producers to find more value and high performance

The management board of the joint company is chaired by Eugene Mayne, group CEO of Tristar Transport, and includes Carl Blomme, regional president of Brenntag Europe West & MEA, Michael Thompson, MD of Brenntag MEA, Alejandro Pattyn, CEO of Trychem-Brenntag and Jonathan Mayne, COO of Trychem-Brenntag.

The company plans to increase its existing commodity business along with expanding its basket into specialty chemicals with initial focus on selected markets and industrial focus that include coatings and construction, oil and gas, lubricants to name a few.

The Middle East is a fast growing region with ongoing investments in chemical production. The chemical distribution market is still fragmented and consolidation offers significant potential for a full line distributor like Brenntag.
