ASR Logistics India has opened a facility in Dubai to focus on transportation and warehousing in the region.

The new company, ASR Cargo Dubai will provide complete logistics solutions to the customers operation from the Gulf, according to Rajendra Singh Rao, director, ASR Logistics India.

“We will be based in Jebel Ali free zone. This new enterprise will be working independently to provide transport service in the UAE too,” said Rao.

Given the uncertain nature of the logistics sector, ASR is taking an asset light approach to the new business and as such will not directly own any of its trucks.

The company will instead focus on the container business. “We have 1100 containers at present and plan to add another 700 containers this year, and by the end of next year, we will own over 2000 containers,” said Rao.

The company is primarily engaged in facilitating containerised transportation, but is expanding its activities to other areas of the logistics industry, with supply chain solutions through sister companies incorporated in several countries in Asia.

“Our focus is on the international trade. Probably, once GST is rolled out, we may think of doing some domestics business. Our focus is the ASEAN trade. We have offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia,” added Rao.
