Saudi Arabian Airlines captain dies mid-flight
A Saudi Arabian Airlines pilot died at the controls of the airliner mid-flight this week, according to local media reports.
The airliner’s captain was flying the plane from Bisha to Riyadh when he suffered a heart attack.
His co-pilot took immediate control of the aircraft and declared a state of emergency, the airline said in a statement.
He landed flight SV 1734 safely at King Khaled International Airport and medical personal boarded to treat the captain, but he was pronounced dead in the cockpit.
Saudi Arabian Airlines said in its statement that the passengers were in no danger at any time during the emergency.
