Emirates plane declares emergency due to engine fault
Emirates flight EK522, bound for Thiruvananthapuram from Dubai was forced to make an emergency landing in Karachi on Sunday due to a technical fault.
The Airbus A330-200, carrying 200 passengers, landed at Karachi airport with “full emergency measures” according to local media.
Emirates Airline has not commented on the nature of the fault, but airport officials have said the captain of the aircraft reported a problem with the plane’s engines.
Emirates sent a ferry Airbus A330-200 from Dubai to take the stranded passengers on to Thiruvananthapuram.
The diverted plane remains at Karachi airport, according to sources, and efforts by technicians to fix the fault have proven unsuccessful.
