Indian e-commerce company Future Bazaar has awarded a warehousing and distribution contract to Middle Eastern powerhouse Aramex.

The partnership was announced at the opening of a 9000m² logistics centre in Mumbai. The domestic service will enable Aramex to cover over 12,000 pincodes in more than 650 locations.

"Aramex is committed to providing our customers in India with efficient transport and a worldclass logistics infrastructure that meets the demands of India's most important industries," announced Percy Avari, Aramex's country manager for India.

Aramex has a number of existing customers in India and its latest contract represents a further attempt to "capitalise on the country's robust economic growth".

The warehouse facility, which is located in the Bhiwandi area with access to the national highway and airport, has been designed to accommodate the warehousing operations of Future Bazaar and other retail and e-commerce companies. In addition, it includes high-tech security and a comprehensive IT system to process and manage online orders.

"Coupled with our express distribution capabilities, cash on delivery and realtime shipment tracking services, our new facility in India provides innovative, customer-focused solutions for retail and e-commerce companies, providing them with a key advantage in a fiercely competitive market," added Avari.
