United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has established an agency in Jordan that will be operated in-house by the Middle East based container shipping line.

The announcement marks another milestone in UASC's ambitious growth plans and reiterates a strong customer focused approach in realising these plans, the ocean carrier said in a press release.

"Jordan is a key market for UASC in the Middle East and we are committed to ensuring our customers there are provided with the highest quality of service excellence and reliability standards,” said Uffe Østergaard, chief commercial officer, UASC.

“We have invested in a recruitment drive to ensure the right people are joining the agency team, delivering the highest standards of customer service and commercial expertise,” he added.

UASC has been serving the Jordanian market since it was established and has developed a sound understanding of the local economy, says Østergaard.

UASC primarily imports food, construction materials and home appliances into Jordan and exports raw materials with three weekly services calling at the country’s Aqaba port, two of which are direct from the Far East.

UASC's cooperation agreements with leading shipping lines are also expected to provide global access to all major markets for Jordanian customers. The carrier is part of the ‘Ocean Three’ shipping alliance with CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines.
