Galfar Engineering & Contracting has confirmed that it has been awarded a $168.7mn order from the Oman Tender Board for a new road project.

The company had already said in late November that the board had picked a bid from a contractor for a contract to convert the Barkha-Nakhal road into a dual carriageway whose bid matched its own.

In a statement to the Muscat Securities Market, Galfar CEO Dr Hans Erlings said that it had now received a letter of award from the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The contract period runs for three years.
