Etihad Crystal Cargo has signed an interline agreement with Cargoitalia, the Italian freighter airline with operations in Milan Malpensa Airport.

The deal, which came into effect last month, provides customers of Etihad Crystal Cargo with continued freight capacity from Abu Dhabi to Milan, where it will link with Cargoitalia's network of destinations in the US and Central America, including New York, Chicago and Houston.

In return, customers of Cargoitalia will benefit from freight capacity from Milan to Abu Dhabi, where it will link to Etihad Crystal Cargo's network throughout the Middle East, India and East Africa.

"The agreement with Cargoitalia will greatly benefit Etihad Crystal Cargo and its customers in terms of the wider number of freighter destinations we can access. In addition, it will result in greater load capacities between Abu Dhabi and Milan through the deployment of Cargoitalia's DC10F aircraft, which has a capacity of 70 tonnes," said Des Vertannes, executive vice president of Etihad Crystal Cargo.

"Despite alliances between cargo companies still being quite rare in the industry, collaborations like this are enormously beneficial to both companies as we are able to share resources and enhance our capacity and network for our customers."
