Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has announced that dredging and reclamation work has commenced for Khalifa Port, a multi-purpose maritime facility located approximately 4.6 kilometres off the shores of Taweelah.

The project is part of ADPC's multi-billion dollar Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone, which will provide the necessary logistics infrastructure for Abu Dhabi's growing industrial and commercial sections, as outlined in the government's Plan Abu Dhabi 2030.

"Khalifa Port is designed to increase Abu Dhabi's port capacity far above the current marine traffic served by the existing port of Mina Zayed. It will create a gateway for the import of all cargo into Abu Dhabi and export of goods manufactured in the adjacent industrial zone," said Ahmed Saeed Al Calily, chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Ports Company.

"This will be a state of the art facility and one of the most important industrial developments in the region," he added.
