$140bn to be spent on roads and rail projects in Qatar
Qatar has earmarked more than $140bn for infrastructure development projects over the next five years, including an extensive transport network over the next five years.
The announcement was made by HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport at the Global Infrastructure Conference in South Korea this week.
He commented: "Qatar ranked first in terms of development projects in GCC countries with those being implemented for FIFA 2022 and to meet the Qatar National Vision 2030."
Key development projects in the country include Doha Metro, being implemented by Qatar Rail, New Sea Port Project, which is considered the biggest project in the Middle East, and the expansion of Hamad International Airport.
