Liberian registry appoints new Dubai business manager

Greece-born Fay Catsiba brings wealth of experience to role.

The Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry has appointed a new Business Development Manager for its Dubai office.

Greece-born Fay Catsiba, who holds a Master of Law from University College London, began her career in shipping 22 years ago as a lecturer in Maritime Law, Transport Law and International Trade Law at the Southampton Institute of Maritime Studies, England.

Since then she has held a number of senior positions as claims and insurance manager as well as legal and general counsel for several leading shipping companies in Greece, Switzerland and the Philippines.

In 2008, she founded an international consultancy company, and in 2010 established her own shipping company.

Catsiba will represent LISCR in the UAE and Middle East region, where the Liberian Registry continues to expand its representation and sphere of interest.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent the world’s fastest growing and most innovative Registry in one of the most exciting areas for genuine expansion in the shipping and corporate sectors,” Catsiba said following her appointment.

Hilary Spilkin, Managing Director of the Liberian Corporate Registry, said the organisation is delighted to have recruited an individual of Fay’s professional experience.

“The UAE and Middle East is an area of strategic importance to the Registry, and Fay’s appointment is a further demonstration of our commitment to provide our clients in the region with the highest possible level of service and immediate access to the quality of expert advice they demand. We are most confident that Fay’s skills and expertise, in addition to her long-standing ties to the shipping community, will further strengthen and develop our presence in the UAE and Middle East region,” Spilkin said.
