YoungShip delights at Dubai Drydocks day
A tour of one of Dubai’s most important maritime sites has inspired young members of the UAE’s shipping industry.
The members of YoungShip, a non-profit organisation for people under 40 working in the maritime industry, visited Dubai’s Drydocks World for a special event organised by DryDocks World and sponsored by GAC.
With high spirits, 48 eager YoungShip member started with a guided tour of the site. Several times during the tour, surprising information and fun facts thrilled the participants.
“Can you believe even the Directors have bicycles here, that’s so cool!” exclaimed Thies Holm, who organised the event on behalf of YoungShip.
After the bus-tour, the YoungShip members were then invited for some refreshments and snacks, where they were also given some gift bags with Drydocks goodies.
“This event was a great success, and now I almost feel like we should be giving you something,” said delighted YoungShip member Allen Jomaya.
After a group photo, lots of laughs and a great learning experience, the group boarded back on the bus and left Drydocks World to a post-tour dinner at La Loca.
Christoffer Thorsheim, chairman of YoungShip Dubai, said the event was a huge success.
“On behalf of all our members, the board, and our sponsors, I would like to thank Drydocks Dubai for their hospitality and support,’’ Thorsheim said.
