Up to 150 taxi drivers sacked each month in Abu Dhabi
Up to 150 Abu Dhabi taxi drivers lose their job each month for driving through red or amber lights, The National reports.
Taxi regulator TransAD introduced a new rule at the start of the year requiring all of the six Abu Dhabi companies to revoke the permits of any of their drivers who enter a junction when the lights are not green.
A manager at a taxi company, who asked the newspaper not to identify him, said that the companies have no choice but to fire their employees once they receive notice of the drivers’ violations.
Some of the taxi companies are offering their drivers training that covers laws, regulations and safe driving in an effort to prevent them losing their job.
