What does Dubai Trade do to attract and retain talent?
Dubai Trade offers every prospective employee the chance to work across a broad domain that encompasses the activities of sea and airport operations, customs cargo clearance and free zone administration. This gives a well-rounded experience to our staff regarding global trade facilitation.

Additionally, we believe in continuous education, so we are constantly investing in training to upgrade the skills of our employees. This ensures that our employees remain with us and grow their careers long-term.

We attract people who are innovators and possess entrepreneurial spirit. We offer them an enlightening work environment where they can freely exchange their ideas and share their experiences. Dubai Trade is a family oriented organisation where every staff member feels at home.

We pay close attention to the human element in daily interactions with all our employees, and we identify the competencies of each so we can allocate roles and functions accordingly.

What are the growth areas currently for Dubai Trade?
Dubai Trade has been on a fast growth path for the past five years. Even during the recent recession period, Dubai Trade enjoyed exponential growth in terms of new customer registrations and online transactions.

We have augmented our core service offerings with multiple value-added initiatives, such as TradeShield, an online insurance service; Rosoom, a secure, easy and robust e-Payment gateway; Vessel Schedules, an aggregator service for all vessels sailing out of Jebel Ali port; and finally our Certified Trade & Logistics Professional (CTLP), a pioneering vocational training programme that develops the knowledge capital in the field of trade facilitation.

What have some of the highlights so far this year been?
This year we launched all our portal services on a mobile platform in accordance with the smart government vision of his H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and the Prime Minister of UAE. This means that our customers can conduct and monitor their business anytime, anywhere. The launch of TradeShield will further boost Dubai as the leading destination for trade and logistics.

We have started to align our service offerings to the historic Expo2020 win for Dubai and this year between January and June, 8,985 new companies registered with Dubai Trade, bringing the total to 96,889.

Dubai Trade (Training Team) received the Training & Education Provider of the Year from the Supply Chain & Transport Awards 2014 and senior training officer Alaa Al Tef was recognised as a CILT International Young Achiever. I also received the International Maritime Club Golden Helm Award for Excellence in Maritime Services.
